Research Areas

His research interests include high performance computing, Grid computing, and computer architecture. He designed and developed a series supercomputer including Dawning I, Dawning 1000, Dawning 3000 and Dawning 4000.


Education

Dr. Fan received his B.S. degree from NanKai University in 1984and received his PhD degree in Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of SciencesCASin 1990.

Experience

He worked at institute of computing technology from 1990 to 2006, where he served as deputy chief engineer of national research center for intelligent computing systemsdirector of National Engineering Center on High Performance Computing and deputy director of institute of computing technology. Since 2006, he served as Director of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, CAS.


Honors & Distinctions

He has received many awards, such as outstanding award of CAS science and technology progress, first price of national science and technology progressfirst price of Beijing science and technology progress, the outstanding young scientist of CAS, and the national talent of New Century talent program.
